Little bit about me people don't really know: I have had 3 holes in ones, one in which was on a par 4, yes a double-eagle (albatrose!) and another at LPGA Qschool finals, I played on a Boy's High School golf team in Miami, I won 7 times in college at University of Miami, I have had left knee surgery, I can talk like a chipmunk, I majored in Art, and I love to dance!
Bio: I was born and raised in Miami. At the age of 7, I picked up the game of golf from my father. I was fortunate enough to have the guidance of Charlie Delucca and the Dade Amateur Golf Association (which is now the First Tee Miami). I played junior golf and high school golf and won the Florida Women's State Junior Girls event two times and my junior golf record gave me the opportunity to be recruited by many colleges around the country.
I chose to play at the University of Miami and had some of the best golf, to this date, while at UM. I won seven times in college, including the Big East Championships in 2003 and was a top ranked college golfer when I graduated in 2005. While at Miami I won many honors and accolades. The Center of Research in Sport and Society gave me the 2003 Scholar Athelte Award. In 2004, I was inducted into the Iron Arrow Honor Society at the University of Miami. Only a select few students are given this honor each year and it is the highest honor you can attain at UM. I was given the 2005 Babe Zaharias Female Athlete of the Year by the Women in Sports Society.
I turned pro in 2005. I have played in two US Women's Open Championships ('04 and '05) and two LPGA events (the 2005 Wendy's Championship for Children and the 2007 Corning Classic) on sponsor's invites. I have made it to the Final Stage of LPGA qschool on the two attempts I tried. I made the cut at qschool in 2006 and missed gaining conditional status on the LPGA by 1 shot.
In 2006, my rookie year on the Duramed Futures tour, I finished top 50 on the money list and had a T4th at the Lake Geneva event.
In 2007, I cannot say the same about my golf game. I did not make many cuts and struggled with my personal life ( I had relationship issues and my grandfather became ill and passed on) as well as out on the course- I became unmotivated to work on my game. I opted not to try and qualify for the LPGA in 2007. I did not re-qualify or attain status on the Duramed Futures Tour for 2008 and this caused me to re-analyze my career as a whole. Then a light came and I was selected to be on the next, all-female cast Big Break in Hawaii. I modeled more in my 2007 season. I was in the Sunice golf catalog and the 2008 Golf Digest World Ladies Golf calendar, which can be viewed in my photo gallery.
So far 2008 has been great. I am currently engaged to Rhys Lloyd, who is also a kicker in the NFL for the Carolina Panthers (he is also a great golfer). I plan to swtich instructors to someone I know can get me out on the LPGA and I plan to put in many hours of practice to achieve this goal. I plan to improve my game and become a better player. I will be on the Golf Channel's hit show, Big Break Ka'anapali, which begins April 15th. I plan to try and qualify for the LPGA and European tours in September.
For right now my schedule is all over the place this year but I rather have quality events than quantity. I know I have what it takes to make it out on the LPGA and I plan to do that and promote women's golf in anyway that I can!
